Developments in whole body counting equipment, procedures and philosophies at nuclear power plants are discussed. Over 100,000 WBC results from 12 power plants have been studied in an effort to assess the magnitude of internal doses to workers. Historical trends at several representative plants are discussed. Methods of interpreting results and demonstrating compliance with regulations and guidelines are discussed
