Description

This thesis is addressed with the results of simulation works carried out to settle some of the physics issues related with the injection and acceleration of space charge dominated beam in a compact cyclotron. The design issues of a spiral inflector, main magnet and space charge effect on the behavior of beam envelope in the inflector and cyclotron are reported. The analysis is performed for 10 MeV high current compact proton cyclotron, where the beam from the ion source has energy of 80 keV and current in the range of 10-20 mA
