Analysis of the neutron polarization for the investigation of inelastic processes in magnetic samples

Description
The scattering of polarized neutrons at magnetized solids is analyzed for the general case of arbitrary orientations of the incident polarization, of the magnetic induction of the sample, and of the polarization of the scattered neutrons. Considering nuclear and magnetic scattering the scattering cross section as well as the polarization of the scattered beam are derived. It is shown that an neutron spin echo analogous effect can be observed under definite experimental conditions utilizable for small energy transfer measurements
