On the Orsay MP gas handling system

  • 1. Paris-11 Univ., 91 - Orsay (France). Inst. de Physique Nucleaire

Description

A brief description of the set of the insulating gas handling system is given. The used technology for the transfert machines, valves and pipes as also the tank preparing have allowed to keep the gas after 5 years of use and 70 emptying and filling operations- with a very low rate of impurities A cheeking of this impurity rate by chemical and biological methods is systematically executed: different values are given. This allows to keep the machine without dust of SF6 decomposition products and oil perceptible traces after several weeks of running at maximum voltage and to obtain runs at 13 MV quasi-free of breakdows. Some comments concerning the charge-belt and screens could be given
