Power converters for transfer line magnets of new injector linac in Indus accelerator complex

  • 1. Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore (India)

Description

DC, current regulated, switch-mode power converters are developed to energize various electromagnets in transfer line of the new injector linac in Indus Accelerator Complex. These are rated for 10 A and 18 V (maximum) with output current stability of ±100 ppm. The topology used in these power converters is two-switch forward converter operating with variable frequency PWM (VFPWM) control in the range from 20 kHz to 100 kHz. This paper describes the design principles, highlights its salient features, shares the development experience and discusses the test results and improvements vis-à-vis its precursor models.
