Psoralen photochemistry and the structures of single-stranded nucleic acids

Description

Psoralen photochemistry provides a uniquely powerful method for establishing the structures of single-stranded nucleic acids. From the experience with 16S ribosomal RNA it has also provided evidence for mutually exclusive structures being in equilibrium with each other, suggesting dynamic changes in the molecule which are very likely to relate to its function. Psoralen appears to crosslink precisely those features which are most difficult to observe using other techniques. (author)
