Description

A method has been developed to determine the strontium-90 activity in the presence of sup 4 sup 5 ca, sup 1 sup 3 sup 4 Cs using Cerenkov counting to measure the sup 9 sup 0 Y daughter activity. The method can be applied to determine sup 9 sup 0 Sr concentrations in environmental samples or in other samples containing sup 9 sup 0 Sr in admixture with these radionuclides. Several factors affecting sup 9 sup 0 Y detection efficiency have been studied and the influence of sup 8 sup 9 Sr and sup 1 sup 3 sup 4 Cs, sup 1 sup 3 sup 7 Cs/sup 9 sup 0 Sr ratio on the determination have been investigated.
