On the difference between quark and gluon jets

Description
The longitudinal- and transverse-momentum distributions of hadrons in quark and gluon jets are studied in some detail. Using the string configuration in e+e- → qq-barg to define the frame in which the components of the split gluon are hadronized, the kinematical consequences are explored. By analytic calculations, the softening of the energy distribution and the somewhat larger average transverse momentum of gluon jets are shown
