Temperature controllable regime of directed solidification of binary melt

Description
The process of directed crystallization loses the normal frontal character if the temperature gradient in the melt is aimed at zero. In this case the solid phase formation simultaneously takes place in a stretched metastable area adjacent to the ingot surface. Kinetics of this area expansion is determined by the rate of cooling thermal wave propagation deep into the melt, which exceeds the rate of diffusion wave of impurity displacement by the moving front by several orders. The maximum automodel regime of such thermally controlled solidification processes corresponding to quasiequilibrium conditions in the metastable area is considered
