Workshop on the Physics Programme of the RBRC and UKQCD QCDOC machines
Description
The RIKEN BNL Research Center (RBRC) was established in April 1997 at Brookhaven National Laboratory. It is funded by the 'Rikagaku Kenkyusho' (RIKEN, The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research) of Japan. The Center is dedicated to the study of strong interactions, including spin physics, lattice QCD, and RHIC physics through the nurturing of a new generation of young physicists. During the first year, the Center had only a Theory Group. In the second year, an Experimental Group was also established at the Center. Beginning in 2001 a new RIKEN Spin Program (RSP) category was implemented at RBRC. RBRC has an active workshop program on strong interaction physics with each workshop focused on a specific physics problem. Each workshop speaker is encouraged to select a few of the most important transparencies from his or her presentation, accompanied by a page of explanation. This material is collected at the end of the workshop by the organizer to form proceedings, which can therefore be available within a short time. To date there are 68 proceeding volumes available. The construction of a 0.6 teraflops parallel processor, dedicated to lattice QCD, begun at the Center on February 19, 1998, was completed on August 28, 1998 and is still operational. A 10 teraflops QCDOC computer iis under construction and expected to be completed this year. About 24 presentations are included in the volume. Session titles included: Introduction; Current Status of QCDOC Runs; DWF Simulations on QCDOC; Improved Staggered Fermions, Mixed Actions, and All That; Understanding the Staggered Dirac Operator; First Results from Dynamical Domain Wall Fermions; Excited Nucleons; Pentaquark from Lattice QCD; Nucleon Structure with Domain Wall Fermions; Lattice Calculation of the Neutron Electric Dipole Moment; Nucleon Decay on the Lattice with Domain Wall Fermions; Testing 5D Chiral Operatorts; Delta I= 1/2 Rule from K -> pi Matrix Element in Domain-Wall QCD; 1=2 S-wave Pion Scattering Phase Shift with Two-Flavor Full QCD; On-Shell K ->pi pi Decay; Lattice Calculation of the Lowest-Order Hadronic Contribution to the Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment; The Electromagnetic Splitting and Gmu-2 Light-by-Light Contribution; Charm Physics; SU(3) Flavor Breaking Ratio in Hadronic Matrix Elements; Relativistic Heavy Quark Actions; D and Ds on the Lattice with Domain Wall Fermions; Twisted Boundry Conditions and Application to Semileptonic Heavy-to-Light Decays; and Summary and Look to the Future
