Preparation and characterization of PZT from citrates organic solution

Description

Fundamental studies in ceramic processing indicates that properties reproducibility of ceramics are direct function of powder preparation and green bodies characteristics. Several PZT compositions near to the morphotropic phase transitions were prepared aiming to clarify the influence of calcination temperature and stoichiometry on the ceramic behavior. Pechini process involving citrate metal complexation and further polymerization with ethylene glycol was used in this work. PZT powder obtained from calcination of organic resin were characterized by infra red spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, mercury porosimetry, particle size determination by sedimentation, and BET surface area determination. Crystalline PZT was formed by temperature as low as 300 sup(o)C. (author)
