Description

Experimental β- strength functions (Ssub(β)) are presented for the odd-mass Rb isotope sequence A=89 to 97. As expected from general nuclear structure considerations, but in contrast to present purely statistical concepts, these strength functions exhibit well separated 'pygmy' resonances and a systematic behaviour as a function of mass number and β-decay energy.
