Associative multiplicities in π-C interactions at pc=40 GeV with backward emission of protons in the laboratory system

Description

Associative multiplicities in the π-+12C→p+X reaction are studied (backwards in a laboratory system(LS)) for an incident π--meson momentum of 40 GeV/c. The reaction was investigated by means of photographs taken in a 2-meter propane bubble chamber of the laboratory of High Energies of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. The chamber was irradiated by a pulse beam of π--mesons at p=40.0+-0.25 GeV/c in the Serpukhov accelerator. Analysis shows the absence of noticeable correlations between protons emitted in the back and front semi-spheres in LS. The multiplicity of relativistic charged particles does not depend on the properties of protons emitted backward in LS
