A short survey of the Eighth International Conference on Plasma-Surface Interaction is given. Subjects discussed include edge plasma and its relation to H-mode confinement, roles of impurities, hydrogen recycling, divertors, pump limiters, wall and limiter conditioning and hydrogen in metal.
