A process and equipment for the destruction of organic solutes, and especially complexing agents, present in an aqueous solution such as a radioactive effluent
Description
In the process, the aqueous solution is electrolysed in a cell with a series of electrodes; an appropriate electric potential is applied in order to destroy the solutes through electrolytic oxidation and is periodically varied or reversed in order to regenerate the working electrodes. Solutes may be organic acids such as formic acid, dihydroxy-malonic acid or oxalic acid. 5 refs., 3 figs
