Diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis by means of computerized tomography, ERCP, and angiography

Description

The value of different radiological methods in the diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis is discussed. ERCP seems to be the best suited examination with the highest diagnostic reliability followed by CT, which can precisely show complications of the disease such as pseudocysts or enlargement of the organ. Future technical developments are very promising. Angiography is only rarely indicated nowadays. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

Der Wert der verschiedenen radiologischen Methoden bei der Diagnose der chronischen Pankreatitis wird eroertert. Die ERCP scheint die beste Untersuchung mit hoechster diagnostischer Verlaesslichkeit zu sein, die CT kann sicher die Komplikationen dieser Erkrankung nachweisen, wie Pseudozyten oder akute entzuendliche Vergroesserung des Pankreas. Kuenftige technische Entwicklungen sind auf diesem Gebiet vielversprechend. Die Angiographie ist heute nur noch selten indiziert. (orig.)
