Obstructive jaundice
Description
The diagnostic methods used in a case of obstructive jaundice are described. A /sup 99m/Tc liver scan ruled out intrahepatic malignancy. An 131I rose bengal study established that the jaundice was obstructive. The abdominal ultrasound study uniquely established the presence of a hugely distended gall bladder and firmly placed the obstruction at the extrahepatic level. A 75Se methionine scan suggested pancreatic disease but did not establish its presence
