Description
The concentrations in air and rain and the deposition of actinide elements following the Chernobyl accident have been studied at Monaco and Riso, Denmark. The deposition of 239Pu + 240Pu was only 0.1-0.2% of the inventory in 1986 from nuclear detonation tests. The activity ratios of 241Pu, 242Cm, 238Pu, + 243Cm + 244Cm and 241Am to 239Pu + 240Pu were about 86, 14, 0.47, 0.14 and 0.13 respectively decay corrected to the time of the accident, 26 April 1986, while supported 242Cm(242Amm) was insignificant. 237U and 239Np were detected at Riso but not at Monaco, since the deposition at Riso partly originated from the initial explosion at Chernobyl, which contained relatively higher amounts of actinide elements
