Monitoring additional components of the environment prior to the start-up of the Temelin nuclear power plant

Environmental monitoring is accomplished by external organizations and by the nuclear power plant itself. The Faculty of Agriculture, South-Bohemian University, analyzes the initial status of agricultural production in the surroundings of the plant. Complex hydrological studies are performed by the Masaryk Research Institute for Water Management in Prague. The power plant performs, as well as technological monitoring, also chemical and radiochemical analyses encompassing, among other things, air aerosols, atmospheric fallout, gamma doses, surface and ground waters, soils, sediments, vegetation, animal and plant products of agricultural activities, dust, etc. (P.A.)
