Weibel instability in warm relativistic electron beam-warm magnetized plasma system

Description
The filamentary instability of a warm relativistic electron beam propagating into a collisionless magnetized warm plasma is investigated. We found that the filamentary instability can be stabilized by the applied magnetic field and by the transverse beam and transverse plasma temperatures. Increasing the beam drift velocity and the plasma return current drift velocity the development of the instability is favoured. (Author) 1 Fig., 18 Refs
