Description

The major radiation exposure of the population from the uranium series arises by inhalation of the short-lived daughter products of Rn-222. Indoor concentrations are generally several times higher then the outdoor ones. The majority of the radon found in homes comes from the soil air, which moves to the atmosphere by diffusion. Some general procedures for reducing radon and radon daughter concentrations in houses are described. (author)
