New radiation quantities for practical use in radiological protection
Description
New radiation quantities for practical use in radiological protection have been evolved to provide a reasonable estimate of effective dose equivalent. These new quantities are the 'ambient dose equivalent' and the 'directional dose equivalent' for environmental monitoring and the 'individual dose equivalent, penetrating', and the 'individual dose equivalent, superficial' for individual monitoring. These quantities apply to all radiation types requiring the minimum modifications to present instrument and dosemeter designs. (U.K.)
