Linear deuteron accelerator for element analysis
- 1. NSC 'Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology', Kharkiv (Ukraine)
Description
Main parameters and design features of an applied deuteron linac with energy of 3 MeV for element activation analysis of materials are presented. A beryllium target is proposed to use for neutron production. For an averaged beam current ∼ 200 mkA the neutron yield is supposed to be ∼ 4· 1011 n/s. The linac represents an H-cavity loaded by drift tubes. Electric potential distribution on the drift tubes corresponds to p-mode wave. Beam dynamics stability is achieved using the modified alternative-phase focusing.
