High resolution study in gaseous phase of electronic spectra of benzyl-H7, αD2, D7 and orthoxylyl radicals

Description

After a presentation of experimental techniques (emission spectra in gaseous phase, absorption spectra in gaseous phase, fluorescence spectra of xylyls in solid phase, reference spectra, wave length measurement, and recording of band contours), this research thesis reports the determination of the symmetry of the first excited electronic state of benzyl by rotational contour analysis of vibronic bands of the emission spectra of C6H5CH2, C6H5CD2 and C6HD5CD2. The author then reports the study of the rotational contour of some bands of the absorption spectrum of the C6H5CH2 radical. The next part reports the rotational contour analysis of the electronic origin band in the emission spectrum of the orthoxylyl radical at 4683 Angstroms. The last part reports the vibrational analysis of emission spectra of benzyl-H7, -αD2 and -D7 radicals in gaseous phase
