The reaction of an early-flowering Pisum recombinant to environment and genotypic background
Description
An X-ray induced early-ripening Pisum recombinant is inferior to its initial line with regard to seed production and yielding stability in subsequent generations. Its yielding capacity can be improved by growing the material under specific subtropical conditions as well as by combining the gene for earliness with distinct other genes of the genome. In addition, the seed protein content is markedly influenced by both environmental factors and specific gene combinations. The globulins of some mutants and recombinants were separated gel-electrophoratically into seven subfractions with different molecular weights. Their relative quantities vary in dependence on the genotypic constitution of the material. (author)
