Gas and the environment

The main chemical component of natural gas is methane, the most simply structured of all the hydrocarbons. The main consequence of this basic fact is that natural gas is the cleanest burning of all organic fuels. To illustrate this the carbon dioxide emission is provided for all energy forms. It is also sown that the use of natural gas in place of almost all other energy sources will reduce air pollution to more acceptable levels. The major environmental benefits of natural gas relative to greenhouse gas emissions, urban air quality and safety are outlined. 3 tabs
