Development of groundwater pollution in the locality of Nove Zamky - locomotive depot - diagnostic center

The Nove Zamky locomotive depot represents a confirmed environmental burden (EB). Its establishment was conditioned by the operation of the railway depot and station (provision of train transport), activities related to railway transport - inspection and maintenance of traction vehicles (railway locomotives - diagnostic center), handling of fuels (diesel), oils, lubricants (lubrication of switches) and corrosives (filling rechargeable batteries). The depot area, including the diagnostic center, was classified as a high-priority load. There is a regular VC in the reference area, which, however, probably does not come from the EB locomotive depot. In the reference area, there are regularly increased contents of PCE, DCE and TCE, which may and probably originate from the EB locomotive depot. The results of the monitoring of the environmental load NZ (065)/Nove Zamky - locomotive depot - diagnostic center (SK/EZ/ NZ/589) showed the persistence of increased contents of volatile aliphatic hydrocarbons. The contents of DCE, PCE and VC exceeded the IT criteria of the directive of the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic No. 1 / 2015-7, Annex No. 12. The results of the analyses indicate the possibility of several sources of contamination. The origin of these sources is still unknown. Pollution with oil substances that occurred in the past at the assessed site was not confirmed. (authors)
