Gas-jet coupled charge breeder beam line for rare isotope beams

  • 1. Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Kolkata (India)

Description

In the RIB facility at VECC, rare isotope beams (RIB) are accelerated using a gas-jet coupled electron cyclotron resonance ion-source (ECRIS) technique. Radioactive species are produced in suitable targets via nuclear reactions induced by proton or alpha particle beams from the K130 cyclotron and are simultaneously transported to an ECRIS using gas-jet transport. The RIB of interest is separated from unwanted species using an isotope separator and thereafter accelerated in post-accelerators
