Clinical usefulness of Urografin 76% in digital subtraction angiography (DSA)

  • 1. Kumamoto Univ. (Japan). School of Medicine

Description

Twenty patients (10 males and 10 females aged from 19 to 79 years) with diseases in the head, heart, abdomen or extremities underwent intravenous digital subtraction angiography (DSA) utilizing the conventional contrast medium, Urografin 76%. Burning sensation during the injection of the contrast medium was moderate in most of the patients. Motion-induced artifacts due to pain were not seen. Although image quality sufficient for diagnosis was obtained in all sites, particularly the head and extremities, it was a little inferior in the abdomen as a result of intestinal gas-induced misregistration. Urografin 76% seems to be a useful contrast medium in DSA. (Namekawa, K.)
