Study of the extraction of La(III), Eu(III), Lu(III) by mesoporous MCM-41 silica impregnated with Cyanex 272 and ionic liquid [C8mim]+[NTf2]+
Description
In recent years, the demand for rare earth elements has increased significantly due to their use in many technologies. These strategic metals are considered as critical raw materials due to their economic importance and the risk of their supply. In this work, materials based on mesoporous silica (MCM-41) functionalized with an organophosphorus ligand Cyanex 272 and/or an ionic liquid [C8mim]+[NTf2]- with different molar fractions have been developed for the adsorption of lanthanide ions La(III), Eu(III) and Lu(III). These materials present adsorption capacities in the presence of the ligand, increased selectivity Eu/La in the presence of ionic liquid and also a selectivity for Eu(III) towards Co(II) and Ni(II). In order to consider an industrial application, a shaping of the materials in an alginate biopolymer has been performed. The extraction properties of the obtained alginate-silica hybrid materials were evaluated for the three lanthanide ions in 'batch' mode before being successfully used in continuous mode. (author)
Abstract (French)
(auteur)
