Gas coolant comparison according to dissipated thermal power or heat-transfer surface

  • 1. Moskovskij Ehnergeticheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

On the basis of heat-transfer efficiency notion, i.e. the ratio of the quantity of the heat transferred to the power spent for the circulation of coolants, the comparison is made of gas coolants according to the dissipated thermal power and the heat-transfer surface. A comparative scale of gas coolants is plotted, and it is shown that the order of distribution of gases in the scale does not depend on the value chosen as a criterion for comparison of coolants. The comparison of numerical values of criteria presented in the table shows that for longitudinal flow-around of smooth straight channels depending on the gas coolant chosen, thermal power may increase sevenfold at similar parameters, heat-transfer surface may increase 15 times, power spent for coolant circulation - 800 times, and equivalent pressure - 28 times
