Description
In the presence of alternating axial and spatial non-uniform azimuthal components of the magnetic field, we have derived the trajectory and velocity of a single charged particle. The sinusoidal variation of the axial field results in radial drift of electrons and positive ions, which, however, oscillates in synchronism with the field. The result is in agreement with the experimental data. (author). 12 refs, 1 fig
