Moessbauer studies of hydrogen absorption in Dy, DyMn2, DyFe2, DyCo2, and DyNi2

  • 1. Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, New Jersey 07974

Description

The Moessbauer effect has been used to study hydrogen absorption in Dy, DyNi2, DyCo2, DyMn2, and DyFe2. Isomer shifts in the hydrides of the intermetallics are similar to those found in the dysprosium hydrides. Measurements at 4.2 0K for the hydrides of the intermetallics show the magnetic order to be quite different from that of dysprosium hydride. Both atomically ordered and amorphous hydrides were studied
