Description
63Ni-radioisotope of nickel emits 67 keV beta radiation. Due to very low energy it cannot be measured by ionization counters successfully. In the present study we have evaluated the role of aniline as quencher for the preparation of quench correction curve for the radioactivity measurement of plant samples of 63Ni (pure beta emitter, 67 keV βmax). Aniline gave a linear decreasing response in the % counting efficiency with the increase of its concentration in the standard samples. Aniline diluted in 1,4-dioxane was found a good colour quencher for making quench correction curve for the fluorescence quenching in L.S.C. (author)
