Recent results in 2-stage diodes at Sandia National Laboratory

Description

A two-stage ion diode geometry consists of a standard magnetically insulated diode and an intermediate electrode dividing the stages of the diode. The voltage control and divergence reduction have been demonstrated using 1 MeV proton beam with 10 kA of ion current, and a lithium beam. A noticeable increase of the beam kinetic energy has been observed. (AIP) copyright American Institute of Physics 1994
