Description
Residual non-volatile iodo compounds are found after boiling of KI in 3 mol/1 HNO3, and the nature of these compounds in investigated by extraction, thin layer chromatography, and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry or with Fourier transformed IR spectroscopy. Inorganic species of iodine are not detected in the residual solution in measurable amounts, but several organic compounds with more or less polar properties are formed. (orig.)
