Temporally resolved measurements of H atom density in a Cu HyBrlD laser
- 1. Macquarie University, NSW (Australia). Centre for Lasers Applications
Description
Full text: We have brought on-line a diagnostic system for measuring the temporal evolution of the H atom density for investigating the kinetic action of H in the discharge of 'halogen enhanced' copper vapour lasers. The technique employed, called 2-photon allowed laser induced fluorescence, involves focussing the 205nm output from a frequency tripled pulsed dye-laser into the discharge to excite the H(n=3) level and measuring the subsequent Ha fluorescence. In this paper, we present density measurements for the Cu HyBrID (Hydrogen Bromide In Discharge) laser as a function of the added HBr concentration, and discuss the implications for understanding the action of additive and optimising laser output
