Description
The use of ionizing radiation for commercial chemical production of compounds is still in the early stages of development. This paper deals with such methods of synthesis. With this technique, reactions which are often impossible using conventional methods often become feasible. New results suggest that this technique can be quite competitive with conventional methods. In fact the synthesis of ethylbromide is already possible on a commercial scale. It should be noted that radioactive products are not formed using this technique.
