Core Visit: Findings about the Core Structure

Description
Automatic Translation: During the inspection of the core blanket during the long break in 1984 photographs of the fuel element pouring were also made. The evaluation of these recordings shows that the core is asymmetrical. The highest point of the inner core is off the core axis, and also the heights of the outer core cones show larger differences. The cause of this asymmetry must be that, the Inner core balls exit their delivery pipe at a speed that is too high on average.
Abstract (German)
Bei der Besichtigungsaktion der Coredecke in der großen Abschaltpause 1984 wurden auch Aufnahmen der Brennelementschüttung gemacht. Die Auswertung dieser Aufnahmen zeigt, daß das Core unsymmetrisch aufgebaut ist. Der höchste Punkt des lnnencores liegt abseits der Coreachse, und auch die Höhen der Außencoreschüttkegel zeigen größere Unterschiede. Ursache dieser Unsymmetrie muß sein, daß die Innencorekugeln mit einer im Mittel zu hohen Geschwindigkeit aus ihrem Förderrohr austreten.
