Fatigue Crack Growth Rate (FCGR) behavior of Nicalon/SiC composites
- 1. Univ. of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN (United States)
- 2. Oak Ridge National Lab., TN (United States)
Description
Ultrasonic measurements were carried out on the Nicalon/SiC composite specimens to correlate elastic moduli with percentage porosity in the in-plane as well as through-thickness directions. Compact type C(T) specimens were cyclically loaded to study the fatigue crack growth behavior. However, it was difficult to initiate the crack in the specimens
