Nonlinear propagation of a whistler with finite amplitude in a narrow plasma filament with current

  • 1. Universitet Druzhby Narodov, Moscow (USSR)

Description

The results of experimental investigation of a nonlinear propagation of a finite amplitude whistler in the plasma column with #betta#sub(pe) < #betta#, i.e, under the conditions, when the electrostatic mode riss is excluded (#betta#sub(pe), #betta#- palsma electron frequency and propagating wave frequency) are presented. It is shown that the satellite rise with the #betta#1 > #betta# freqUency, depending on ion mass, magnetic field magnitude and independent of palsma Jensity cannot be explained by observed above thermal low-frequ:ency noises. An assumption is made on the existence of virtual ion wave drawing out energy from the energy of current flowing through the plasma and with high degree of efficiency spending it for upper satellite excitation
