Sorption-atomic emission (with inductively coupled plasma) determination of metals in high-minerallized natural waters

Description

A combined sorption - ICP atomic emission method was developed for determination of Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn and Y in natural waters using a new fibrous sorbent bearing conformation-mobile aminocarboxylic groups. Quantitative metal extraction was achieved under dynamic conditions within a wide pH range (3-8) from solutions containing up to 300 g/l of alkaline earth metal salts. The metals were eluted from the column by 2 M HCl or HNO3. The possibility was shown of extracting ionic and bound metal forms from sea water. The method enabled to determine Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn and Y with detection limit of 0.1-3.0 μg/l at an enrichment factor of 20
