Temperature dependence of the nuclear isovector response function

  • 1. Institut de Physique Nucleaire, Orsay Cedex (France)

Description

We discuss the evolution with temperature of the isovector response function of hot nuclear matter using a zero range density dependent force adjusted to reproduce the observed value of the symmetry energy coefficient. We find that, as temperature increases the particle- hole interaction is no longer repulsive enough to produce a well developed zero sound. As a result, a broadening of the giant dipole resonance occurs, leading to its quasi disappearance by the time the temperature reaches 5 MeV. (author). 11 refs., 3 figs
