Nonlinear Yang-Mills theories

Description
We construct Yang-Mills type gauge theories for quadratically nonlinear algebras in any number of spacetime dimensions. They contain gauge fields hμA and coadjoint scalars tA. We derive conditions under which these theories are equivalent to ordinary Yang-Mills theories at the classical level by field redefinitions. The example of nonlinear extension of SU(1,1) is worked out in detail. The quantum theory is briefly discussed. (orig.)
