On the theory of resonant absorption of neutrons by nuclei in a crystal
Description
The total cross section of neutron interaction with a nucleus in a crystal of arbitrary symmetry in the vicinity of the isolated resonance is calculated taking into account both potential and resonant scattering and interference between them. The obtained result in the case of pure resonant scattering in a crystal with the Debye spectrum agrees with the conclusion of the familiar model. It is shown that the averaged total cross section does not depend on temperature, but the number of neutrons absorbed in a crystal increases with the temperature growth
