Sophisticated CT imaging techniques: Applications in orthopaedic surgery of the hip

Refined methods of computerized tomography and computer graphics allow to markedly improve our means and method available in diagnostics and operation planning. They allow greater accuracy in the diagnosis of pathological changes in the hip, the repeated assessment and review of planned surgical measures as well as the evaluation of postoperative results, the production of exact bone copies/images and the manufacture of individually adapted protheses. The significance of these technologies will grow continuously with its increasing integration with surgical practice. (orig.)
