Electronic structure study of nano cobalt ferrite using compton spectroscopy

  • 1. Department of Physics, University College of Science, M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur-313001 (India)

Description

We report the Compton profile (CP) of CoFe2O4 nano compound using high energy (661.65 keV) γ- rays from 20 Ci 137Cs source. The experimental CP is measured at momentum resolution of 0.34 a.u. (Gaussian FWHM) to check performance of various hybrid exchange and correlation functionals (viz. WC1LYP and PBEsol) with Gaussian type atomic orbitals. Moreover, density of states and optical parameters such as dielectric constants, absorption coefficients are deduced using FP-LAPW prescription. It is found that the PBE sol based CP gives a good agreement with the experimental CP. Further, optical properties are explained to explore role of CoFe2O4 in photovoltaic applications. (author)
