Total cross sections for neutrino and antineutrino interactions in the 3-30 GeV energy range

Description

Results of investigations into total cross sections for neutrino and antineutrino interactions over charged currents with a muon in the final state in the energy range of 3-30 GeV are presented. Experiments have been performed in the accelerator beam of the Institute of High Energy Physics using a neutron detector with iron filters. Neutrino and antineutrino spectra have been obtained, as well as the muon distributions over the impulse and angle for neutrino and antineutrino interactions. Taking into account the amendments, connected with the muon registration threshold, the detector angular efficiency and the neutrino penetration into a neutrino beam, mean inclines of total cross sections are determined out of the total number of registered events in the assumption of the linear growth with the energy: asub(ν)=(sigmasub(t)(ν))/epsilon sub(ν) = (0.74+-0.07)x10-38 cm2xGeV-1; asub(anti ν)=(sigmasub(t)(anti ν))/epsilonsub(anti ν)=(0.31-+0.03)x10-38 cm2xGeV-1. The total cross section ratio is: R=sigmasub(anti ν)/sigmasub(ν)=0.42-+0.03
