Hot electron temperature parameter deduced from the continuum spectra for ECRIS plasmas

  • 1. Paris-6 Univ., 75 (France)

Description

The analysis of the X-ray spectra due to the bremsstrahlung emission are often used to diagnose the hot electrons in plasmas. Simulations of bremsstrahlung spectra for two directions of observation were made for ECRIS plasmas (Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source) assuming a parametric distribution function of the hot electrons which is not maxwellian and using bremsstrahlung cross sections very different from Kramers cross sections. Therefore, the standard temperature diagnostic is not valid for the hot electrons; however we can still use the slope of the bremsstrahlung spectrum to determine a temperature parameter. We work out here a determination of the hot electron temperature parameter Tperpendicular in ECRIS plasmas and we propose a diagnostic easy to use. (author)
