Simultaneous combustion synthesis and consolidation of intermetallics endash MoSi2
- 1. Combustion Synthesis Group, Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Kanchanbagh, Hyderabad-500258 (India)
Description
A novel technique has been developed for simultaneous combustion synthesis and consolidation of intermetallics in a single step, from elemental powders. The method has been applied for the synthesis and consolidation of MoSi2. Temperature profile of the combusted compact provides the temperature-time regime for consolidation. The products were characterized for density, phase formation and microstructure. copyright 1996 Materials Research Society
